God's Direction

Lately, our lives have been very tense.  We recently moved.  But, the impact of the move was outrageous.

First, we were planning our move for September first.  We had been preparing since the beginning of August.  We struck a verbal deal to rent from a woman, her small condo.  We were excited and began condensing our have to's, since this was going to be a temporary stop (and much smaller place).  September first, we get a text message from her daughter, not the woman, that she had the opportunity to sell her condo a week previous and couldn't find our phone number to tell us!  (This was after three full days of attempting to contact her and her daughter, with no answers.)

New E-Book on Being a Mommy

My husband's cousin wrote a new e-book on the adventures of being a mommy and all that entails.  Mommyhood is not always fun and many times puts us in extremely awkward situations.  Krissy holds nothing back in inviting us into her world and shares just what being a mom can feel like, mess and all.

Why Does God Allow Evil and Suffering?

If God is all-powerful, He would just wipe out all evil and suffering, wouldn’t He?  If He is loving, He wouldn’t let the innocent suffer.  If God cared about those who followed His Son, He would at least protect them, right?  If He knows ahead of time, who is going to commit evil, He could just remove them before they go that far.

These are hard questions and somehow, the answer is even more difficult.  Not because there isn’t an answer, but rather, because the answer is complex and still partially unanswerable.  But, let me try…

YHWH created the heavens and the earth in the beginning of time.  Genesis chapter one describes the many facets of His creation and at each point, He declares what He has created as good.  Then, at the end of His creation phase, in vs. 31, He steps back and declares everything that He has created (the heavens and all in them, the earth, the moon, the sun, animals and mankind) as ‘very good’.

I Do, I Don't

The moment has come!  You're so excited.  You've been planning this day for a while now, perhaps even most of your life.  The wedding.  The right person.  The family and friends that will witness this blessed, sanctified, most precious day of your life.

Everything's a blur.  The ceremony is past, the family and friends have partied, laughed and danced with you and you rushed off to your ever so exciting honeymoon.  Oh could you imagine something better than spending the next few days, perhaps week or two, surrounded by nothing but carefree bliss with your significant other.  Staring into each other's eyes.  Holding each other close.  Exploring each other in a way you never had before.

Ah... wedded bliss.  So easy to "fall in love", but then, reality sets in as you walk into your home once more.  The marriage begins.  No longer the wedding, no longer the honeymoon, but the full-on marriage!  Did you prepare for this?  Did you anticipate the clothes on the floor, the toothpaste cap not on, every light in the house left glowing no matter what time of day or who's in the room?  Did you really ponder your vows?  Now is when they're going to come screaming back at you.

Remember them?

Microwave Fudge

Chocolate ValentineI can't take the credit for this recipe (my cousin's recipe), but it sure does come in handy in a pinch.  Especially if you need a chocolate fix!

  • 1 package of chocolate chips
  • 1 12oz container of chocolate frosting
  • 2 T butter
Mix ingredients together in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 5 minutes.  Stir and pour on a greased cookie sheet to cool. Cut in squares and enjoy!

You can make several different types. Some of my cousin's favorites are:
  • Cherry Chocolate fudge; put cherry frosting instead of the chocolate.
  • Chocolate mint fudge; mint chips instead of chocolate.
  • White chocolate fudge, butterscotch, peanut butter, etc...there's no limit!

Good for the Gander...
